A "Quickening" Spirit

Today's name discovery for Jesus, I found to be quite interesting, and definitely, quite powerful. Regarding the letter "Q", as one of Jesus' name, meanings, according to His Word, is "QUICKENING SPIRIT". It was the name given to the second Adam (Jesus), the first Adam being that of man. Quickening Spirit is found only once in the entire New Testament. In fact, it is found only once in the entire Bible! There is an abundance of deep meaning behind this name, and comes with great promise. Let's take a look at both "Quickening", and "Spirit", out of the Strong's Concordance, beginning with "Quickening".
Quickening:
To quicken, give life, make alive
To produce alive, begat or bear living young
To cause to live, make alive, give life by spiritual power to arouse and invigorate
To restore to life
To give increase of life: thus of physical life
Of the spirit, quickening as respects the spirit, endued with new and greater powers of life
Metaph., of seeds quickened into life,, i.e. germinating, springing up, growing
And now .... the meaning of "Spirit" pertaining to this writing:
Spirit:
Holy Ghost, Spirit (of God), Spirit (of the Lord), (My) Spirit, Spirit (of Truth), Spirit (of Christ), (Jesus' own) spirit
A life giving spirit
The spiritual nature of Christ, higher than the highest angels and equal to God, the divine nature of Christ
Spirit of God
God's power and agency distinguishable in thought from his essence in itself considered
The third person of the trinity, the God the Holy Spirit
The efficient source of any power, affection, emotion, desire, etc..
Now let's take all of this and bring meaning to it, from God's point of view (His Word). We'll start by quoting the one verse found on :Quickening Spirit":
And so it is written, the first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam [was made] a quickening spirit (1 Cor. 15:45 KJV)
And, from the Amplified Bible, the same verse:
Thus it is written, The first man Adam became a living being (an individual personality); the last Adam (Christ) became a life-giving Spirit [restoring the dead to life]. (1 Cor. 15:45 Amplified Bible).
Now, let's share an Old Testament cross reference to this verse:
And the LORD God formed man [of] the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. (Gen. 2:7 KJV)
Now we'll read 1 Cor. 15:45, including three additional verses, thus keeping (or reading) it in it's pro[er context:
But it is not the spiritual life which came first, but the physical and then the spiritual. The first man [was] from out of earth, made of dust (earthly-minded); the second Man [is] the Lord from out of heaven. Now those who are made of the dust are like him who was first made of dust (earthly-minded); and as is [the Man] from heaven, so also [are those] who are of heaven (heavenly-minded). And just as we have borne the image [of the man] of dust, so shall we and so let us also bear the image [of the Man] of heaven (1 Cor. 15:45-49 Amplified Bible).
Now let's expound on what is being said here:
Regarding Adam, the first Adam speaks of man (a living, physical, soul). The second Adam
speaks of Christ Jesus (a Quickening Spirit, ONE Who makes alive). Shown here is the fact that preceding spiritual life, there must first come physical life, thus, the first Adam, (man), whom God breathed life, into (made physically alive). The second Adam (Christ) came to breath the Spirit of Life (eternal life), into man, that he or she might be released from the sin and bondage he or she was born into. The second Adam (Jesus) came to breath life into that which was/is dead unto sin, thus making us dead "to" sin, and "alive" in (and to) Him, by His "QUICKENING SPIRIT".
Let's read a few verses from Romans, Chapter 6:
WHAT SHALL we say [to all this]? Are we to remain in sin in order that God's grace (favor and mercy) may rultiply and overflow? Certainly not! How can we who died to sin live in it any longer? Even so consider yourselves also dead to sin and your relation to it broken, but alive to God [living in unbroken fellowship with Him] in Christ Jesus (Rom 6:1-2, 11 - Amplified Bible).
With a bit of understanding regarding the liberty to live unto Jesus Christ, and no longer to our lower (or sinful) nature, now let's look at the depth of what Jesus, as Quickening Spirit, offers us:
As we read previously, Quickening Spirit refers to the Spirit of God, the Spirit of Christ, and, the Holy Spirit. In the main verse used in this study (1 Cor. 15:45), it refers to the second Adam, Jesus Christ. The healing that the Quickening Spirit (in Christ) came to bring, surely can refer to our physical life (in the way of physical healing), as we know Jesus Christ is our Healer, Who heals every manner of sickness and disease, in fact, He heals every manner or aspect of our life, whether it be spirit, soul, and/or body. I would in "no way" want to even attempt to "box God in", as the saying goes. However, the greatest, or truest of meanings in this particular study (I believe), is referring to the realm of the spirit of man (the healing of ones own spirit). The Lord, as Quickening Spirit, came to give life, to spring forth inner life within us, inner joy and inner peace, etc.. By His power, we are spiritually aroused, invigorated and restored unto life (stirred up, within, if you will) to live life to it's fullest (in Him). Jesus, as Quickening Spirit, quickens us "ALIVE" (delivers us from death unto life). Briefly, I will share that when Jesus came into my heart (being deeply suicidal at that time), it was by His power, within my life, He truly aroused, invigorated and restored me to life (instantly), imparting to me a whole new desire to live my life, rather than, to end it. i also instantly knew Jesus was real, and so very, very loving. I wept in His presence. However, just as "instantly" as I desired to live, I discovered my desire was to live in, to live with, to live for, and, to live unto Him. I deeply desired to know this ONE who had breathed such healing life into me. Until I experienced His Quickening Spirit in my life, I was filled to the brim with deep depression, and, deep self hatred. It took only one touch of this ONE'S (Jesus) hand, to heal me deeply within. What an awesome God we serve! What an awesome Savior!
If we are not living in, or experiencing the quickening of His Holy Spirit, within our lives, then we are missing, or, falling short of what His hand is extended toward us, to give, and/or to impart to us. The Lord desires to make each of us "alive" unto Him, to restore each one of us, to fill us with His peace - with His joy - with His love. Let's not wait any longer to receive what He's most desirous to extend to us. Let's pray and ask Him to do just that, in each of our lives. Let's pray for such life to be breathed into each of us - into each of our spirits, in Jesus precious name:
Father, how we thank You for sending Jesus, the very ONE known as the "Quickening Spirit", the very ONE Who breathes life in us, causing us to be restored unto You, making us alive in Your Kingdom. Father, some of us may not have yet experienced the life of Jesus in such a way. We are coming to You this day, Father, asking ... asking to receive such an imparting of Your Holy Spirit. We recognize, Lord, that we do nothing to earn such a blessing, such a loving touch from Your hand, and that, in fact, we all fall short, so very short of Your glory. However, we do, from Your Holy Word, realize, it is Your desire to give good gifts (Your most prized and precious gift namely, being ... Jesus Christ) to Your followers ... to Your children. Your Word teaches that we need only, from our hearts, to sincerely ask for Christ to save us, to fill our lives, and He will do it. So, we come humbly, this day, Father, asking that You would save, and heal us, and fill us with Your Holy Spirit, in Your fullness, that we might receive and experience, within our lives, the very quickening that Your Holy Spirit desires to impart unto us. Oh Father, make us alive unto You, that we might come to know and grow in Your eternal love. We call out unto You, this day, praying with thanksgiving in our hearts both to and in the glorious name of Jesus Christ, AMEN!
I pray you be blessed, quickened and filled to the fullness of the Spirit of the Living God, and may each of you discover His love, His goodness, and His mercy, in a whole new way!
His love to each of you ... Marcia.
