I have touched on this subject in one of my other writings, but will do so again, today, this time, shedding new light on the same subject.
Jesus tells us in the book of John, that He's the Way, the Truth and the Life:
Jesus said to him, I am the Way and the Truth and the Life; no one comes to the Father except by (through) Me. (John 14:6 Amplified Bible).
In todays Bible Treasure, we will concentrate on "Jesus ...The Way".
It is often said today, that there are many ways to God. Many believe, that though there are "many paths", we eventually will all be led to the same God ... and that all these "paths" come from the same God. This, of course, is absolute deception. As Christians, we must be most cautious, as it can be very easy to fall into such a trap, and as Christians, such deceptions might come at us in an entire different manner. As an example, as Christians we might begin to believe that the path of "good works" will make us acceptable to God. Maybe if we get on the path of "giving", that journey will seat us before the Lord. Or hey, "fasting" might do it, or, perhaps "prayer". You see, it's easy to create or build "paths". It's not always the cult or occult paths that lead us to a false god ... that literally lead us astray. We can also be led astray by this false path of religion (the doing, giving, good works path), entering into a deception that wrongly tells us that we are on the "right" path to God, when in fact, we are not. Do you remember what the scriptures say about trusting in "doing" to be the means that leads us through Heaven's gates? Let's take a look:
Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. (Matt 7:21-23 KJV)
While doing good works, giving, fasting and praying are all important and Godly attributes to be imparted into our lives, through the Holy Spirit, as we follow after and serve the Lord, they, in themselves are not the path that both leads us to, and makes us right with God. The only True Way, is Jesus. This next scriptural referrence says as much:
For [there is] one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time. (1 Tim 2:5-6 KJV).
The truth cannot be any more plain than that! There is "one path", and that "one path" has a name, and His name is Jesus!
I'd like to take a moment and open up the Greek meanings of "Way", from the Strong's Concordance.
Now, let's apply the only true WAY (Jesus) to all that's just been mentioned:
1. Jesus is the way
As we journey with Jesus, the one and only true WAY, journeying on the one and only true path (or highway), to the one and only true God, we must continue to travel (and remain) upon that very road, allowing Jesus thoughts, His feelings, and His decisions to lead, and to guide, even our every course of conduct.
In a mere few days, we are about to celebrate the birth of Christ, Who came from the Father, that He Himself, might lead us to the Father, that, through Him, we might live eternally, in the very presence of God. We have so very much to be thankful for. Let's do that now ... let's thank Him:
We thank You Lord Jesus, that You alone are the WAY, and as we follow You, it is You, and You alone that leads us to the Father in Heaven. We ask that You help us Lord, to remain forever focused on You, and faithful toYou, as You direct our very path. Amen!
May your path be rich in His blessings this Holiday Season!
In His love .... Marcia.
